Education/Certification:
· Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy approved and registered with the APTA, with a Bachelors Degree; Masters Degree preferred.
· Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of practice.

· One year of previous physical therapy experience is preferred; one year of previous physical therapy experience is required for specialization.

SummaryUnder general direction administers physical therapy procedures according to treatment plan. Directs and motivates patients in the performance of complex therapeutic exercises, specialized exercise techniques; and complex gait training. Administers physical therapy modalities such as whirlpool, ultrasound, moist heat, electrical stimulation, massage, traction and the like. Completes and maintains various documents related to the administration of physical therapy.

Ensures appropriate signatures and abbreviations are obtained. Assists Physical Therapists with patient education, conducting of in-service training, SPTA supervision, and overall direction of Physical Therapy Aides and Technicians. Performs general clerical duties in support of department operations such as coordinating volunteers, scheduling patients, taking and relaying messages, answering telephones, and taking inventory. Provides information to other members of treatment team regarding patient observations regarding treatment, recommendations, patient progress, and other items related to the patient’s well being

job Requirements

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesology, psychology, clinical medicine, and physical therapy procedures and treatment techniques at a level normally acquired through completion of an Associate’s degree from a Physical Therapist Assistant program. Analytical ability necessary in order to make observations, modify treatment programs, and analyze and plan treatment programs that are in conjunction with the physical therapist.
